FAQ's

we are here to help you

1.What do I need to bring to lessons?

All swimming equipment that will be required for your lesson will be provided by our Swim Schools. You will however need to bring the following items:

Water Confidence Levels

  • Swim Nappies – either Huggies Little Swimmers or a re-usable version.
  • A towel for you and your child.
  • Swimwear for the parent participating in the lesson.
  • In the cooler weather, a beanie, warm hat or “Hoodie” for your child after the lesson. This will help to keep them warm and healthy through the cooler months.

Beginner to Advanced Levels

  • Suitable swimwear, preferably a one piece swimsuit for girls and racer style swimmers for boys.
  • Well fitted goggles – these can be purchased from our reception area and are competitively priced.
  • Tie up long hair or wear a swim cap to keep hair off face
  • A towel for after the lesson.

2.What is the payment procedure for lessons?

Payment must be received prior to participating in a lesson. If your name is not on the class list you will not be allowed to participate in the lesson until fees are paid in full. Direct Debit – you will be automatically enrolled into your current lesson day and time perpetually. Your position in the program is guaranteed. The fortnightly fee will be debited from either your bank account or credit card account.

3.How Children Learn

Children learn at different rates. Often they will have a burst of progression and then their skills will plateau. Be assured that this is very normal in a child’s learning and development. With continued practice during lessons they will again have a burst of progression.

It is important to allow your child additional practice outside their lesson time. BlueFit offers free entry for children enrolled in the program with a full paying adult. All Children must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.

The most effective way for children to learn is to review and repeat the skills that they have been shown in every lesson. Our programs have been written to build on existing skills and introduce new skills at the correct time. We believe that building good foundations in the learn-to-swim stage will result in strong swimmers with good technique down the track. Swimming is a skill for life but also a life skill.

4.Progress

Our Pool Deck Co-ordinators are continually monitoring and communicating with our teachers, regarding all students progress. We continually assess all students and provide feedback to students and parents. If progressing to the next level we will contact you to arrange a suitable day and time. Upon progression your child will be presented with a certificate.

5.Our Staff

Our Pool Deck Coordinators (PDCs) are available to discuss your child’s progress within the program. Please feel free to approach them should you have any questions about your child’s progress. We do ask that you do not approach your child’s teacher during lesson time as this distracts them from their class.

Our Pool Deck Coordinators are available to assist you with any queries and can assist you with finding a solution.

All BlueFit Swimming Teachers are nationally qualified through either Austswim or Swim Australia. They all hold current CPR qualifications and have completed a Working with Children clearance. We conduct regular staff training to ensure our teachers are up to date with the latest teaching methods.

Our staff are here to help you so please ask us if you need assistance.

6.Before your lesson

Swim students should arrive at the site 5 minutes before their lesson start time. Please make sure that your child does not enter the water prior to the commencement of their lesson. They must stay within arm’s reach of you until the lesson starts.

Each time you attend lessons you must swipe your card to log your attendance at reception. This enables us to know who we are responsible for in the unlikely event of an evacuation. If you forget your swipe card, please talk to our reception staff and they will manually log your attendance for the day.

Upon swiping your card you will be given a coloured token that matches your swimming lane. Your child can place the token in the matching box before they commence their lesson.

7.Safety

The safety of you, your child and our staff is paramount to us. We conduct regular inspections of the pool area, pool water and all learn-to-swim equipment to make sure that they are safe and functional.

We ask that while your child is in their lesson, you stay within the Centre. Once lessons have concluded, your child can continue to swim. However, it is your responsibility to supervise your child at this time.

8.Medical

  • The parent/care giver or swimmer is responsible for marking their absence & booking a make up lesson. This can only be done via the parent portal.
  • If you do not mark yourself absent you will not be able to book a make up.
  • We’ve updated our class make up policy to allow a longer notice period and consecutive make ups. With the new rules you can now mark yourself absent up to 8 weeks in advance and you have 12 make ups in a calendar year. This will allow for multiple make ups to take place in the same month.
  • All absences can now be marked 8 weeks before but no less than 2 hours prior to the lesson. Once you mark yourself absent this can not be changed.
  • Make up lessons can now be booked within 3 months of the marked absence. You will be able to book up a make lesson up to 2 weeks ahead of the class time.
  • If a make up lesson is missed or not book in, this lesson will be forfeited.
  • You can not change the time of a make up once you have booked it in.
  • Make up lessons are non-refundable or transferrable.
  • Make up lessons are subject to program availability. We do not guarantee you will be able to book a make up at a time you desire or that a place will be available.
  • When moving or changing your booking you have the ability to access make ups owing on previous bookings provided they meet the above criteria and your customer account is not in arrears.
