Consistency is Key!

05/03/2025

Why Consistency is Key in Learning to Swim

Regular swimming lessons are essential for skill development, confidence, and water safety. Maintaining a consistent schedule helps swimmers progress effectively and retain what they learn.

Building Muscle Memory

Swimming requires coordination and technique, which develop through repeated practice. Regular lessons reinforce movements, making strokes and breathing techniques more natural.

Developing Water Confidence

Confidence in the water comes from familiarity. Attending lessons consistently helps swimmers feel comfortable and relaxed, reducing fear and hesitation.

Retaining Skills and Progressing Faster

Gaps in lessons can lead to skill regression, requiring time to re-learn techniques. Regular lessons ensure steady improvement, allowing swimmers to build on their abilities.

Creating a Routine for Long-Term Success

A consistent swimming routine builds discipline and commitment, valuable traits beyond the pool. Children who stick to regular lessons are more likely to develop lifelong swimming skills.

Fun At-Home Water Activities for Toddlers!

05/03/2025

Keeping your little one engaged with water play outside of swimming lessons helps build their confidence and familiarity with water. Here are some simple activities to try at home.

1. Bubble Bath Play

Make bath time fun with bubbles and toys. Provide cups, spoons, and sieves for pouring and scooping, helping develop coordination and fine motor skills. Games like “find the hidden toy” add extra engagement.

2. Sink or Float Experiment

Gather household items like plastic spoons, toy cars, or sponges. Have your child guess whether they will sink or float. This introduces basic science concepts in a fun way.

3. Backyard Splash Zone

On warm days, set up a small inflatable pool, sprinkler, or shallow water tub. Let your toddler splash, kick, and play with floating toys to get comfortable in water.

4. Water Painting

Give your child a paintbrush and a bucket of water to “paint” the ground, fence, or outdoor furniture. This mess-free activity encourages creativity and fine motor skills.b

Keep the Fun Going!

These activities keep toddlers engaged while building confidence and familiarity with water. Regular water play at home can make transitioning to swimming lessons easier.

Try these activities and enjoy watching your little one splash and explore!

Pyjama Safety Week 2025

23/02/2025

It is critical that our families and communities are reminded of the importance of being safe and vigilant around water. BlueFit is committed to the safety of our communities and we need your help to ensure our message and skills are passed on to all children and extended families for a safer summer.

What is Safety Week?

Safety Week is upon us, and this year BlueFit Swimming are asking students to come dressed up in their pyjamas. Safety Week lessons focus on water safety skills such as floating, treading water, basic rescue techniques and more.

Why is Safety Week Important?

As one of Australia’s largest swim school providers, we feel BlueFit has the responsibility to our communities to deliver a service that not only emphasises the importance of learning to swim, but also the skills to be safe and aware in and around water.

Safety Week provides us with the opportunity to include additional skills into the swimming program which could ultimately save a child’s life.

What you need to bring?

All preschool and school age children need to bring shorts and t-shirts to swim in during their swimming lesson.

All infants and parents or caregivers need to both bring a t-shirt to wear during swimming lessons.

This is imperative as we simulate swimming in clothing and what swimming techniques could help save your child’s life.

When is Safety Week?

Monday 17th – 23rd March 2025.
